Ho Chi Minh mausoleum is an important memorial to the great father of Vietnam, affectionately known by the Vietnamese as Uncle Ho who completely changed the life of Vietnamese people from being a slave under the French colonialism to being a citizen of an independent & free country, who devoted his life whole-heartedly to people’s happiness, independence & freedom.
For visitors, a trip to Uncle Ho’s final resting place can be an extraordinary experience as it is not just an average attraction; it’s a part of a unique history.
Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the place houses the imbalmed body of Ho Chi Minh, was built in 1973 with the technical support from the USSR and officiallly opened in August 1975.It is seriously day and night guarded by army solders in white uniforms.
Actually, during his lifetime,Ho Chi Minh wrote his last will, partly saying about his death,he wished to be cremated with the ashes separated in three parts for three regions : the north, ther centre & the south of Vietnam.People can spray the shared ashes to rice felds or hill sites and build up with small huts at the sites.Whoever would like to pay homage to Uncle Ho can take a rest on those huts and relax with their thought of him. However,in honor of his great contribution to the country and also to express people's love to their great father, the government decided to keep his body and built up a Mausoleum to pay tributed to him. Also, the following generations can come to pay respect and learn about Ho Chi Minh's tough life for the country's independence & freedom.
Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is open to the public with free admission. Be prepared to queue quietly, go through security scanners and leave any fruit, drinks & big-sized bags behind.Visitors should dress with respect (no shorts, sleeveless shirts and miniskirts) as well. When you enter Mausoleum,in the first floor, you can see an important slogan written in Vietnamese by Ho Chi Minh in 1962 saying that "Khong co gi quy hon doc lap tu do" or " Nothing is more precious than freedom and independence” – his big slogan to motivate Vietnamese in their long struggle against the American.Up to the second floor, you can view uncle Ho's body which has been imbalmed and stored inside a glass case.It seems like he is sleeping quitely.Actually,in the heart of Vietnamese people,he is just sleeping there, not passing away; and we are "generations and gernations pay great gratitude to great Ho Chi Minh President".
To preserve his imbalmed body ,Uncle Ho’s remains are sent yearly to Russia, therefore the mausoleum is closed in two months, usually from September to October. It’s best to recheck your travel agency for further information.
