Frequently Asked Questions
Ba Be Lake is one of the 20 largest freshwater karst lakes in the world, sitting at an altitude of 145 meters above sea level within Ba Be National Park. Unlike many mountain lakes formed by volcanic activity, Ba Be is a rare geological wonder nestled directly into a vast limestone mountain range. The lake itself is technically a network of three interconnected smaller lakes – Pe Lam, Pe Lu, and Pe Leng – extending over 8 kilometers and framed by dense, primitive rainforests.
This tightly curated tour focuses on the absolute highlights of the national park. On Day 1, you will journey from Hanoi to explore the spectacular Hua Ma Cave, famous for its thousands of sparkling stalactites and columns. Day 2 is dedicated to a scenic boat cruise across the waters of Ba Be Lake and down the Nang River. Key stops include exploring the massive, river-carved Puong Grotto (home to a colony of thousands of bats) and floating past the iconic, lonely Ba Goa Islet (Widow Island).
Staying in Pac Ngoi Village offers an authentic look into the daily life of the indigenous Tay ethnic group. The village is beautifully situated overlooking lush farming fields and the lake itself. Guests stay in traditional wooden stilt houses that have been adapted to provide clean, comfortable, and hygienic amenities while preserving their original architecture. The absolute highlight is the evening, where you will share an authentic, home-cooked dinner featuring fresh mountain vegetables and locally caught stream fish prepared by your Tay hosts.
Ba Be Lake is located roughly 240km northeast of Hanoi. The road trip takes approximately 5 to 6 hours each way as you move past rolling hills, scenic valleys, and mountain passes. To maximize passenger comfort and flexibility over this distance, Golden Holiday Travel operates this trip using private, air-conditioned cars driven by professional local drivers, allowing for scenic photo stops along the way
Absolutely. Ba Be National Park is a biodiversity hotspot home to over 1,200 species of flora and fauna. While the primary boat tour is incredibly relaxing, the destination offers plenty of active options. Travelers can choose to explore the village lanes on foot, rent bicycles to ride between the karst mountains, or arrange for kayaking excursions directly on the calm, emerald waters of the lake

Vietnam is a year-round destination, offering diverse weather patterns across its different regions. In general, spring (February to April) and autumn (September to December) are considered the most comfortable times to visit, thanks to pleasant temperatures, lower humidity, and less rainfall.
As Vietnam stretches over 1,600 km from north to south, the climate can vary greatly depending on where you travel:
- Northern Vietnam: Experiences four distinct seasons, with cool and sometimes chilly winters (December to February) and hot, humid summers (May to August).
- Central Vietnam: Usually enjoys warm weather, though the rainy season typically occurs between September and November.
- Southern Vietnam: Has a tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year, alongside occasional tropical showers during the rainy season from May to October.

Please note that domestic flight schedules may occasionally change due to airline operations or weather conditions. Should there be any updates, our team will inform you as soon as possible.
If your journey includes a connecting domestic flight within Vietnam, please keep the following information in mind upon arrival:
- Collect your checked luggage after landing.
- Complete immigration and customs procedures.
- Proceed to the domestic terminal for your onward flight. At some airports, this may involve a short walk or shuttle transfer between terminals.
- Airport staff are usually available to assist passengers, so feel free to ask for directions or support if needed.
Recommended connection time: at least 2 hours 30 minutes
This allows enough time for immigration clearance, baggage collection, customs procedures, terminal transfers, and possible flight delays.
Practical Tip: At major airports such as Noi Bai International Airport and Tan Son Nhat International Airport, international and domestic terminals may be located in separate buildings. Please follow airport signage carefully and allow sufficient transfer time.
