Itinerary
7:30-8:00 AM, our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter & depart to Ninh Binh
10:30 AM, we’ll reach the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, where you’ll explore the Dinh and Le temples. These temples are rich in historical significance, dating back to Vietnam’s early years. In 968, Dinh Bo Linh unified the country after years of civil war and proclaimed himself the king. Hoa Lu then served as the capital for 41 years (968–1009), with 12 years under the Dinh dynasty led by King Dinh Tien Hoang and 29 years under the Le dynasty ruled by King Le Dai Hanh. In 1010, King Ly Thai To relocated the capital to Hanoi, leaving Hoa Lu as the former citadel. This visit provides an in-depth understanding of Vietnam’s history during the Dinh, Le, and Ly dynasties, as well as the 17th-century architecture showcased in these temples.

Frequently Asked Questions
At Hoa Lu, you will visit two iconic 17th-century temples dedicated to King Dinh Tien Hoang and King Le Dai Hanh. These temples were built on the grounds of the original 10th-century royal palace. Your guide will share the legendary stories of how these kings unified Vietnam and chose this rugged limestone terrain as a natural fortress against invaders.
Trang An is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its unique geological “tunnel cave” system. Unlike Tam Coc, the boat routes in Trang An are often circular and pass through multiple long, mysterious caves (such as Sang, Toi, and Nau Ruou). The water is crystal clear, and the complex is managed with high eco-tourism standards, providing a peaceful, well-organized, and incredibly scenic 2-hour rowing experience.
We provide a premium buffet lunch at a local restaurant, featuring the culinary specialties of Ninh Binh. You must try the Com Chay (Crispy Rice) and the famous Ninh Binh Goat Meat, which is prized for its firm texture and aromatic flavor. A wide variety of fresh salads, stir-fries, and vegetarian/vegan options are always available to ensure every traveler is well-fed.
Yes! Many of our travelers choose to add Mua Cave (Hang Mua) to their itinerary. After exploring the history of Hoa Lu and the waters of Trang An, you can challenge yourself to climb nearly 500 stone steps to the summit of Lying Dragon Mountain. The reward is the most famous panoramic view in Vietnam, overlooking the winding Ngo Dong River and the rice paddies of Tam Coc.
While Ninh Binh is beautiful year-round, the “Golden Season” occurs in late May to early June when the rice fields turn vibrant yellow. Another excellent window is September to October. If you prefer cooler, misty weather that makes the limestone peaks look like a traditional ink painting, visit between January and March (though this is also the peak season for local festivals)
Absolutely. The itinerary is designed with a comfortable pace. The walk through the Hoa Lu temples is flat and easy, and the Trang An boat ride is very stable with life jackets provided for all ages. For the optional cycling portion, we provide well-maintained bikes; however, if you prefer to relax, you can spend that time enjoying a Vietnamese coffee with a view of the karst mountains.

Vietnam is a year-round destination, offering diverse weather patterns across its different regions. In general, spring (February to April) and autumn (September to December) are considered the most comfortable times to visit, thanks to pleasant temperatures, lower humidity, and less rainfall.
As Vietnam stretches over 1,600 km from north to south, the climate can vary greatly depending on where you travel:
- Northern Vietnam: Experiences four distinct seasons, with cool and sometimes chilly winters (December to February) and hot, humid summers (May to August).
- Central Vietnam: Usually enjoys warm weather, though the rainy season typically occurs between September and November.
- Southern Vietnam: Has a tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year, alongside occasional tropical showers during the rainy season from May to October.

If your journey includes a connecting domestic flight within Vietnam, please keep the following information in mind upon arrival:
- Collect your checked luggage after landing.
- Complete immigration and customs procedures.
- Proceed to the domestic terminal for your onward flight. At some airports, this may involve a short walk or shuttle transfer between terminals.
- Airport staff are usually available to assist passengers, so feel free to ask for directions or support if needed.
Recommended connection time: at least 2 hours 30 minutes
This allows enough time for immigration clearance, baggage collection, customs procedures, terminal transfers, and possible flight delays.
Practical Tip: At major airports such as Noi Bai International Airport and Tan Son Nhat International Airport, international and domestic terminals may be located in separate buildings. Please follow airport signage carefully and allow sufficient transfer time.
