3-Day Mai Chau Pu Luong Tour – Trekking, Biking & Authentic Village Life

In the morning, depart from Hanoi heading west to Mai Chau valley through scenic landscapes of lush rice fields and winding mountain roads. Mai Chau presents a stunning green valley, home to ethnic groups including the Thai, Muong, Black H’Mong, Tay, and Viet. We will explore the tranquil villages of Poom Coong and Lac, predominantly inhabited by the Thai group.

In the afternoon, take part in a 2-hour biking trip around the area to immerse in the local culture, observe traditional houses, and see various farming activities. The picturesque rural setting includes freely roaming animals such as buffaloes, pigs, cats, and goats.

Continue the journey with a short drive further into Mai Hich, the less-touristic area in Mai Chau valley, where you will check-in the homestay & be free at your own relaxation.

Bike to explore Mai Chau valley

After dinner, relax or join an optional traditional show of songs and dances performed by local youths. This show offers insights into the local lifestyle, customs, and culture. Participate in a cultural exchange by singing, dancing with bamboo poles, and sharing the famous local pipe wine. Overnight in the homestay.

Wake up early to enjoy the fresh countryside air and the morning activities in the mountain village. After breakfast, drive for 1.5 hours to Don village in Pu Luong Nature Reserve. Spend the morning trekking through Don hamlet, descending into a beautiful valley of terraced rice fields and local Thai villages. Climb the hillside for captivating views of surrounding villages and the vast valley.

Following a picnic lunch, continue a scenic hike offering wonderful views of waterwheels, streams, and villages. Arrive at the area of Hieu waterfall, which flow continuously day and night. Trek up to the remote Hieu village, perched on a high mountain slope with expansive views of terraced fields, forests, and waterfall.

Stay overnight with a friendly local host in Hieu village, enjoy visiting their village, cooking together, and savoring authentic local cuisine. Spend a quiet night in Hieu hamlet.

After breakfast with the locals, bid farewell to the charming Hieu village, do a short hike down the hills to the meeting point, where our driver is waiting & takes you to Doan town. From here, you will continue a 3-hour hike on an off-the-beaten path across the forest to Kho Muong village.

Upon arrival to Kho Muong, we will stroll around to explore the village & pay a visit to Kho Muong grotto, the biggest cave in Pu Luong region. After a lunch of local dishes with a local family, you will trek up to NR15C & get our private car picked up for for a 4 hour drive back to Hanoi capital.
